Pedestrian Enhancement along the High Street - Update December 2016

As part of the developer contributions from the land at the former Cranfield University site in Silsoe there has been money provided specifically to make improvements to the pedestrian environment within High Street, Silsoe.

Central Bedfordshire Council and Silsoe Parish Council have been working together to identify the issues on the High Street and have developed a series of proposals that could be implemented. An exhibition was held on Saturday 27th February to seek the opinions of local residents to the proposals.

After gathering information from residents back in February, the proposals and rationale for the pedestrian enhancement scheme in Silsoe are now live on the CBC website and under statutory consultation - please take time to read through them - these proposals are as follows:-

• Raised Tables – High Street and Barton Road
• 20mph Speed Limit – Various Roads in village centre
• 30mph and 40mph Speed Limits – Barton Road
• 40mph Speed Limit – High Street
• Waiting Restrictions – High Street and Park Avenue

Documents available on our website of the proposed scheme, when the consultation is finished and the scheme has been agreed at the Traffic Management Meeting, detailed design will be undertaken which may mean that some of the detail of these will be tweaked -

We have until until 6th January 2017 to lodge our comments, which can be done in writing to:
